Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about buying, renting, and modifying shipping containers with Oregon Cargo Containers. Still stuck? We're a call or a quote away.

How much does a shipping container cost?
Price depends on size, type, and condition. Used and wind-and-water-tight units are the most affordable; one-trip (near-new) containers cost more but last longer. Specialty units like refrigerated, flat rack, and offshore price higher. Every listing shows live pricing, and delivery is quoted separately by ZIP.
What do the container conditions mean?
One-Trip is near-new — a container shipped once from the factory, with minimal wear. Cargo-Worthy is certified structurally sound and fit for export. Wind & Water Tight is a solid used unit with no leaks, ideal for storage. We grade every unit honestly so you know exactly what you're buying.
What sizes do you offer?
Standard sizes are 10ft, 20ft, 40ft, and 45ft, plus high-cube variants that add a foot of interior height. Not sure which fits your project? Our size guides break down interior dimensions and capacity for each.
Do you deliver, and how much does it cost?
Yes — we deliver nationwide from 12 depots (6 in Oregon, 6 across the country). Delivery is priced by distance from the nearest serviceable depot to your ZIP code. Enter your ZIP on any product page or in your cart for an instant estimate; we confirm exact freight on your quote.
How do I place an order?
Add the units you want to your cart and request a quote (or contact us directly). A specialist confirms final pricing, delivery cost, and lead time, then arranges payment and scheduling. No payment is taken online — we make sure everything is right before you commit.
Can I rent instead of buy?
Yes. Standard, high-cube, and refrigerated units are available for month-to-month rental with delivery from the nearest depot — no long-term commitment. It's the low-capital option for temporary storage or cold-chain needs.
Can you modify or customize a container?
Absolutely. We build container offices, cold storage, workshops, restrooms, bars, homes, and more — cut for doors and windows, insulated, wired, and finished to spec. Tell us your project on the quote form and we'll scope it.
How long does delivery take?
In-stock units near one of our depots typically deliver within a few business days of order confirmation. Custom builds and specialty units take longer depending on scope. Your quote includes an estimated lead time for your specific order.
What does my site need for delivery?
Containers are delivered on a tilt-bed or flatbed truck and need firm, level ground with clear access. A 20ft unit needs roughly 60ft of straight clearance to offload, a 40ft unit about 100ft. We'll walk through site access with you when scheduling.
Do you sell to both businesses and individuals?
Yes — we serve contractors, farms, retailers, and government buyers as well as homeowners and hobbyists. Whether it's a single storage container or a fleet, the process is the same.
